Power Outage Hits Ogun West, Following Feeder Pillar Explosion
Several communities in Ifo, Ota, and Ilaro axis of Ogun state have been plunged into blackout due to power outage.
According to a resident, Olabisi Oluwasuyi, he said “It’s 12 days now in ibara, omida axis.. no single beep., And they will come for estimated bill later…”
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) blames the power outage on explosion in its 33kv feeder pillar in Ota industrial axis.
The explosion caused power outage in several electricity transformers in Ota, Ilaro, Ifo, Papalanto, and Ijoko.
Other areas mostly affected include Eggua, Ibeshe, Ijoga, Idiroko, Owode Ijako, Ibogun, Pakoto, Coker village, Igbogila, Oja Odan, Imasayi, Gudugba, and Abalabi.
IBEDC said the explosion was caused by a snap of cable on the Ota industrial 33 kv feeder.
The company says that its technicians along with those of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, are battling to fix the feeder pillar to restore normal power supply to the areas affected by the blackout.
