We Thought Jonathan Was Bad, Now We Are With The Worst of Buhari —Sanusi Lamido

We thought Jonathan was bad, now we are with the worst of Buhari —Sanusi Lamido

Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has expressed sadness at the current economic and security situation in Nigeria, insisting that the country is in a deeper mess now, than it was in 2015.

The former monarch expressed these worries when he spoke at the Akinjide Adeosun Foundation, AAF’s, Leadership Colloquium and Awards, Chapter 7, themed ‘Are Good Leaders Scarce in Nigeria’? on Thursday, August 4.

The former CBN governor criticized the present administration, saying that in spite of the current mess, the present leadership expects to be rewarded with appreciation after leaving office.

“The levels of poverty, levels of insecurity, the rate of inflation, the unstable exchange rate, the lack of power should worry anybody. This is the only oil-producing country that is grieving at the moment when oil prices have gone up as a result of the Russia/Ukraine war. Our total revenue is not able to service our debt and if anybody does not understand that we are in a complete mess, we are.

We were in a deep hole in 2015 and between 2015 and now, we have been digging ourselves into a deeper hole. We thought we had a big problem in 2015 but 2015 is nothing, compared to what will happen in 2023.

We have terrorism, banditry, inflation, unstable exchange rate, and the worst thing is that those in leadership actually think we are going to thank them when they leave office. There is no change. There is no sense of urgency. If you are running a company and your sales revenue cannot pay interest, you know you’re bankrupt.

When the total revenue of the federal government cannot service debt? These are the kinds of questions we need to ask and the reality is that there are so many Nigerians, who, given the opportunity will do well but they simply cannot contest in that space.”he said

According to him, Nigeria is in a mess because of the visionless leaders the country has.

2023: Tinubu Will Run Nigeria Exactly Like Buhari — Festus Keyamo.

Tinubu Will Run Nigeria Exactly Like Buhari — Festus Keyamo.

Bola Tinubu will run on the template of President Muhammadu Buhari if elected president in 2023, his campaign spokesman Festus Keyamo clarified on Friday.

Tinubu’s associate and former party chairman Adams Oshiomhole had on Thursday sought to extricate Mr Tinubu from the failure of the Buhari regime, claiming his man has not been part of the government.

But Mr Keyamo, a serving junior minister for Labour and Employment said Mr Oshiomhole was misinterpreted by the media.

“It is the same APC template that both leaders (Buhari and Tinubu) that they will use,” Mr Keyamo said in an interview on Channels TV on Friday night.

“I saw one misleading headline from one of the papers yesterday and I laughed. It was misleading, misinterpreting what one of our leaders said. That we were distancing ourselves from the records of Buhari. That is utter nonsense. Like I said, we are proud of the record of the APC.” The APC chieftain said.

“Dapo Abiodun Must Be Removed Come 2023” – Amosun Insists.

“Dapo Abiodun Must Be Removed Come 2023” – Amosun Insists.

Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has broken his silence over the 2019 governorship election, saying Governor Dapo Abiodun was rigged into office.

Amosun had backed Adekunle Akinlade who contested on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against Abiodun who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the end, Abiodun defeated Amosun’s anointed candidate with a margin of 19,517 votes.

Abiodun polled 241,670 votes to defeat Akinlade who had 222,153 votes.

More than three years after the election, Amosun who represents Ogun Central at the Senate, declared that his friend turned foe, Abiodun did not win that election.

He spoke on Friday in Abeokuta after receiving an award from the Abeokuta Club to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the association.

He added that he had moved on because of those orchestrated the rigging have apologized to him.

“During the last election, thank God, Chief Osoba is here, I have said it, we won convincingly. They rigged, rigged, and ended up with 19,000.

“Some of them came to apologise to me. I can be mentioning names. We won that election. But I have moved on. We did our work, we will continue to do what we have to do. God will be with all of us,” the former governor said.

Speaking later in an interview with newsmen, Amosun declared that he was not in support of Abiodun’s administration, saying he must be removed.

He also assured his supporters that the next line of action would soon be made public.

“Well, I am happy. When you are in a place and they are telling you that you have done the work of four or five governors altogether. I feel elated. I am happy that they appreciated our little efforts.

“Just wait, very soon, you will hear where we are going next. Clearly, you know my stand, and my stand is my stand. I am not supporting this administration that is there now. He must be removed,” he said.

Galaxy TV News reports that Akinlade who was Amosun’s anointed candidate in 2019 is now the running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, ahead of next election.

2023: Peter Obi Will Make Winning Presidency Very Easy For Tinubu —Hilliard Eta

Peter Obi will make winning presidency very easy for Tinubu —Hilliard Eta

“Obi is a paradigm that APC needs to deal with. But, I will tell you this. The APC is very happy to have Obi around because he is eating up the PDP votes in the South East and the South South. He is just leaving the APC and the Labour Party to contest the votes in the South East and South South.

“Obi is also very popular in the metropolitan Abuja and Lagos. But besides that, in the rural areas of Nigeria, nobody knows him. You go to Zanguru or Zangon Kattaf, and ask who Obi is, and probably most people in those localities mistake him for a trader somewhere. But, he is a phenomenon in the South South and South East, metropolitan Abuja and Lagos, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube,” he warned.

“The youths are angry, and they have every right to be angry, but unfortunately for the youths, they have been looking for a hero, and they have found in Peter Obi a hero, but it is sad because Peter Obi is the antithesis of everything the youths should be looking for, but they have found in him and that is why I said APC should be looking at a new paradigm.

“The party needs to look at the concerns of the youths. It is very important because Nigeria is a very youthful country. We need to create jobs for those who are going to school. We need to give those who are going to school quality education, we need to advance the course of health in such a way that people that are born tomorrow will not suffer the indignity of lack of health facilities that those who are born today are suffering,” he charged.

“My Husband Abandoned Us and Hid in Toilet During a Robbery Attack” – Nigerian Woman Seeking Divorce Tells Court

“My husband abandoned us and hid in toilet during a robbery attack” – Nigerian woman seeking divorce tells court

A businesswoman identified as Asiata Oladejo told a Mapo Grade A Customary Court, in Ibadan, Oyo state to dissolve her marriage on the grounds that her estranged husband, Abidemi, was unreliable and abandoned her and their children during a robbery attack.

Oladejo submitted her counter argument in the divorce suit filed by her husband.

”My Lord, I am yet to recover from the shock I experienced when a gang of thieves raided our house. He hid in the toilet, leaving me to pant in front of the armed robbers, who terrorized the entire residents of the house.

My lord, when the thieves arrived at around 1am. on that night, my husband was nowhere to be found to defend the children and I.

Unknown to me, he hid in the toilet. He only came out when they had gone. My husband wanted us to continue living in that house,” she said.

Abidemi in his defense said that his wife was ill-tempered.

”She comes to my shop unannounced to torment me. It is true that I hid in the toilet when armed robbers attacked our house. All the attempts made to bring her back home failed, because she said she was unnecessarily scared,” he said

He prayed the court to grant him custody of the three children because he had been a responsible father.

Delivering judgment, the President of the Court, Mrs S. M. Akintayo, granted the order restraining Oladejo from threatening, harassing and interfering in the private life of Abidemi.

Akintayo granted custody of the three children to Oladejo, adding that she was in the best position to cater for them.

“Both petitioner and respondent shall be responsible for the education and other welfare of the children. In addition, Abidemi shall pay a monthly feeding allowance of N20,000 for the children’s upkeep. Both of you must maintain peace and order,” Akintayo held.

She, however, noted that there was no marriage to dissolve between the couple.

ASUU Strike: NANS Demands Education Minister’s Sacking

ASUU Strike: NANS Demands Education Minister’s Sacking

The National Association of Nigerian Students has demanded the sacking of the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu over the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

In a statement signed by the NANS president, Sunday Asefon, they said tertiary education had collapsed under Adamu’s watch.

Part of the statement read, “You will recall that President Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on the 19th of July, 2022 gave the Minister of Education Malam Adamu Adamu two weeks ultimatum to resolve the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities to ensure that students return to classes. You will also recall while this ultimatum subsist ASUU extended the strike by another four weeks.

“It is therefore abundantly clear that the Minister of Education lacks the capacity required to manage such an important ministry as the Ministry of Education. He has shown over the years his lack of capacity, know-how, and adequate understanding of the complexity of educational management. This development calls to question his qualification to be appointed as minister of education in the first place. His total lack of compassion and empathy for the plight of Nigerian students speak volumes.

“Since he became minister ASUU has gone on strike for almost 18 months cumulatively and the entire educational structure of our tertiary education system is in total shamble under his watch. It is therefore imperative to call on the President to immediately relieve him of his duty in the ministry and bring in a more competent hand, educated, experienced, physically fit, and willing enough to begin the process of salvaging the debris of the collapse of education system in Nigeria with the hope of rebuilding it.

“NANS under our leadership will leave no stone unturned to ensure that our demands are acceded to, as we will do all that is required to reawaken the spirit of the Ali-Must-Go to ensure that Adamu-Must Go. The nation and well-meaning Nigerians must prevail on the government to fire the minister as this will serve as the only good radiance to the bad rubbish we have witnessed under his leadership of the ministry.”
