Osun Policemen Protest Non-Payment of Their Salaries, Accuse Okada Riders of Sleeping With their Wives

No fewer than 480 police constabularies have protested the alleged non-payment of their 18-month salary in Osun.

The constabularies recruited to complement the police structure by providing intelligence, among others were inaugurated in May 2021 at Police Headquarters, Osun State after their training in April 2021.

The protesting officers who were in their uniforms, converged on the Old-Garage area, marching through Oke-Fia, Alekuwodo before storming the Ola-Iya flyover to press home their demands.

They carried placards with several inscriptions such as: ‘Pay our salary now’; ‘Okada riders are sleeping with our wives’, ‘Pay us our 18-month salary’, ‘pay us’, ‘Our Stipends And Allowances’ and ‘18 months without kobo’ among others.

One of the leaders of the protesting policemen, Constable Tijani Adewale, said despite the non-payment of salaries they are committed to duties stressing that amid their predicament three Constabularies died while on duty. He lamented commercial tricyclists and motorcyclists have snatched their wives due to their inability to provide for them and their children.

“We have gone to the local government, honourable and dignitaries in the state yet no positive result. We lost three persons in Ikire and one in Iree. These people died in the course of discharging their duty.

We are very dutiful even though we have not been paid a dime. Due to unpaid allowances, tricycle and Okada riders have snatched our wives because of their inability to take care of them.” he said

Osun Police Commissioner Olawale Olokode later joined them at the Ola-Iya bridge and ordered them to stop the protest immediately. He assured them that the concerned authorities will intervene in the matter to solve their plights.

“You are embarrassing the force with your protest. You should have channelled your grievances to the appropriate quarters. You are disturbing public peace with this your protests. As far as you are wearing this uniform, we expect you to maintain high discipline as a force man” he said.

Lady Forbids Her Father From Her Wedding For Being Absent From Her Life For 27 Years

A 27-year-old woman, identified as Mabel, has banned her biological father from attending her wedding ceremony for being a deadbeat.

The lady who’s set to tie the knot with her heartthrob warned that her father shouldn’t show up at the wedding as she no longer considers him a dad.

She claimed that the father, identified as Mr. Ilesanmi, is a deadbeat and has been absent for almost her whole life. She said she was irritated when he recently reached out to her asking for money to buy drugs.

Mabel, who shared screenshots of her chat with her father on her Facebook page, said that when she set the wedding date, he expressed his desire to be present at the event as the father of the bride—this made her almost lose her cool and would have fled in wrath had it not been for her fiancé.

In the chat, the aggrieved daughter told her father that she does not have a biological father and warned him that he must not attend her wedding ceremony.

Sharing a snapshot of the chat on Facebook, she wrote,

“Deadbeat dads can sha feel themselves! This particular one has been deadbeat my whole life. Baba somehow learnt of my intro, he called to say I didn’t even tell him set at least God bless you na prayer.

I told him not to come and he simply said okay. We fixed wedding date, he heard. He called again, but this time said something in the line of wanting to be present. I wanted to para, but babe was like maa ni suru. I didn’t hear from him again till today.

He flashed and I called back. He started with how his phone has been bad and he just got it back from the engineer’s shop. He then proceeded to ask how my plan was, I said “oh..it’s moving. How are yours?” Baba sha said I should not worry..I was like don’t tell me what is not..what are your plans? He said I’ll call you back. E nor reach 30 mins he sent the message “

SUSPECTED ILLICIT DRUG DEALER, CULTIST, NABBED AT KOGI POLY GATE

Operatives of Kogi State Polytechnic Security Unit have intercepted one Friday Momoh who was in possession of  hard drugs while making his way to the main campus of the Polytechnic in Lokoja.

The culprit is also suspected to be a member of a secret society.

Momoh, 26, an indigene of Lokoja Local Government of Kogi State was apprehended at 11:40am of Tuesday 6th of September, 2022 with 66 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian Hemp, 4 containers of weed, assorted charm, scissors, 52,000 cash and other hard drugs called ‘ICE’. 

According to the Chief Security Officer of the Polytechnic, Mr. Emmanuel Onuh, Momoh who is not a student of the institution, was held on his way to the Polytechnic with a bag full of the stated materials.

Mr. Onuh said the security unit was on alert based on intelligence reports that students were organizing a picnic as one of the activities to mark the 2022 Students’ Week.

However the report at the disposal of management was that cultists were regrouping to test the security might of the Polytechnic but nipped in the bud by the proactive personnel of the Polytechnic.

During interrogation, Momoh confessed to be a member of secret cult group called “Aro Bagger Confraternity”.

He has since been handed over to the security agents for further investigation.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman who commended the effort of the security unit in Momoh’s apprehension noted that the success was another milestone of the present management in eradicating cultism, cult related activities and other social vices.

Dr. Usman Ogbo  however warned all criminally minded persons to steer clear of the campuses of the Polytechnic as the management would not take matters capable of breaking down of law and order on campus lightly.

THREE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS ARRESTED IN OGUN FOREST

Operatives of Ogun state Police Command on the 29th of August 2022 arrested three suspected kidnappers at a forest along Imeko- Iwoye ketu road and rescued three victims of their kidnap operation unhurt.

According to SP ABIMBOLA OYEYEMI, POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER, OGUN STATE POLICE COMMAND,The suspects, Aliu Abubakar 29 yrs, Umaru Tukur 24 years and Yau Isah 25 years, were arrested following a distress call received by policemen at Imeko divisional headquarters that, kidnappers numbering about 8, armed with dangerous weapons blocked Termac/ Iwoye road and shooting sporadically. The information revealed further that the hoodlums had injured the duo of Bode Ogunleye and Muhammad Basa, while the trio of Alhaji Fatai Abdulsalam, Alhaji Dauda Orelope and Alhaji Rafiu Isah were abducted by the same group.

Upon the receipt of the distress call, the DPO Imeko division, mobilized his men in conjunction with men of Amotekun corps, So safe corps, Hunters, Vigilantes as well as Fulani/Yoruba youths and stormed the forest in search of the victims and their abductors.

Due to the intense pressure, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and took to flight leaving an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle behind at their hideout in the forest.
The victims were rescued unhurt, while the security operatives continued combing the bush which led to the discovery of the three amongst  the suspects where they were hiding in the forest.

When they were searched, the key to the abandoned motorcycle at the scene of the kidnap was recovered in the pocket of one of them along with three cutlasses.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to anti kidnapping section of the state Criminal investigation Departments for discreet investigation.

His case is not strange in Nigeria.
