Terrorist Attack: Many Inmates Escape From Kuje Prison In Abuja, Abba Kyari Taken Out Of Facility

It has been revealed that most of the 700 inmates at the Kuje correctional facility in Abuja, have escaped from the correctional facility.

According to SaharaReporters, it was also learnt that other inmates have been removed from the facility including the suspended deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari, who was remanded at the prison by a Federal High Court.

Kyari is standing trial for allegedly dealing in cocaine alongside four members of his former police unit, the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Unit (IRT), and two other persons arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Enugu State, in January this year.

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists on Tuesday night attacked the prison facility in Nigeria’s capital city, and SaharaReporters learnt that the facility was ruined by the heavy firepower brought by the assailants.

Multiple sources told SaharaReporters that the gunmen invaded the facility around 10 pm.

Details about the casualties suffered in the attack were still sketchy at the time of filing this report, but one of SaharaReporters’ inside sources said many inmates were able to escape.

“The place was completely ruined and all the inmates have left the facility for now, including Abba Kyari,” one of SaharaReporters’ inside sources said.

“Most of the inmates have escaped from the facility; it is sad. It houses over 700 inmates,” another source said.

Earlier, while the attack was going on, one of our sources had said, “Can you hear the gunshot, we are under serious attack.”

Kuje prison was established in 1989, it has minimum and maximum holding cells where inmates are incarcerated.

It is famous for holding high-profile offenders, including former governors and ministers.

According to him, Peter Obi’s acclaimed achievement in Anambra State while serving as governor of the state were all lies.

Dokubo said: “There is a scammer in town. Peter Obi is scamming people with lies and people are believing him.

“This is nauseating. Peter Obi was a governor of Anambra State for eight years.

“How would you compare Obi with Tinubu or Atiku? What is his antecedent? Lies. You are showing documents that you rejected land.

Electricity supply: UCH mandates patients to pay N1,000 per day

The management of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, has mandated each patient accessing the hospital pay the sum of N1,000 daily for electricity supply.

The hospital insisted that the need for the new levy is necessary in order to cushion the biting effects of an increase in the price of electricity tariffs and diesel used to power generating plants by the hospital.

The Federal Government-controlled hospital made these declarations via an internal memo.

The memo obtained by DAILY POST on Monday said that the high cost of electricity and the increasing price of diesel were behind the decision.

The hospital in the release said that the management took the decision to compel the patients to shoulder the cost of power supply at the hospital.

It was reported that the memo entitled, “Approval For The Recommendation To Add Utility Fee To The Service Fee Charged To Patients In The Hospital” was signed by Wole Oyeyemi, UCH administrator.

Oyeyemi signed the memo on behalf of the chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, and Chief Medical Director of the hospital.

The memo was addressed to the Director/Head, Finance and Accounts Department of the hospital.

It explained that all patients accessing the tertiary healthcare facility must pay the N1,000 on daily basis.

The memo added that the hospital has been experiencing power outages for some time.

It added further that the hospital is battling issues such as the high cost of electricity tariff and inflation in the price of diesel.

The memo then revealed that these prompted the hospital to take the decision to task the patients to pay the money on daily basis.

“To this end, I write to convey the management’s approval for the mandatory payment of utility fee of N1,000 daily by every patient accessing care in this hospital.

“Following the recurring power outage in the hospital, high cost of electricity tariff and inflation in the price of diesel which has impeded stable power supply, management has decided to consider measures that can help to facilitate flawless service delivery in the hospital.

“To this end, I write to convey the management’s approval for the mandatory payment of utility fee of N1,000.00 (one thousand naira only) daily by every patient accessing care in this hospital,” it said.

“You are requested to kindly implement the approval with immediate effect.”

The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mr. Toye Akinrinlola, when contacted asked the reporter to come to the hospital for more explanation.

Tanzanian Pastor Allen Mziray has stated that late Nigerian gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu failed to make heaven because of her disobedience.

According to Allen, he came to the knowledge of this after it was shown to him by God in the course of a vigil prayer at church some days ago.

The pastor made this call in a Facebook post on July 2 as he revealed that the late gospel singer is in hell because of her disobedience.

In the length read titled, ‘OSINACHI NWANCHUKWU IS IN HELL FOR DISOBEDIENCE,’ Allen said God told him these things during a vigil prayer in church some days ago.

Allen claimed that God told him that the Ekwueme crooner was warned severally According to the preacher, God said late Osinachi was warned severally to change from her ways, but the Ekwueme crooner refused and kept using ‘instruments of Jezebel.’ Allen said that the singer is now burning in hell. Christians Don’t Need Guns For Self-Defence – Adeboye

General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged christians to get jaw bones of cows instead of guns, stating that they don’t need guns.

Adeboye was clarifying an earlier message where he was quoted to have asked christians to buy guns for their self protection especially the churches during service, saying that Samson was victorious in biblical times with jaw bones and not an AK-47.

The respected cleric made this disclosure at Mount Carmel while delivering his message ‘Meant for the top’, in the church’s monthly thanksgiving service monitored by our correspondent.

Recall that a Catholic church was attacked in Ondo State during Sunday service leaving scores killed and many others injured.
According to Adeboye, No one can be killed until the stipulated time, stressing that no one should stay away from church because of fear of being attacked.

Adeboye said, “I never asked christians to buy guns, christians don’t need guns. Samson did not fight with an AK-47. Don’t go and buy guns.”

Police arrest lady for posting ‘blasphemous’ content on WhatsApp, beg those who reacted violently to calm down.

There was a recent case of violence that erupted over alleged blasphemy in a part of Bauchi state and several houses were set on fire.

State police commissioner Umar Sanda says the lady involved was taken to prison to save her life.

“You see, once this type of thing comes up, you’ll have to be very careful and make sure that you do the needful as and when due,” Sanda said in an interview Punch published on Saturday.

“What happened was that a woman posted an article on a WhatsApp group, that has both Christians and Muslims and before you knew it, tension mounted and there was a breakdown of law and order.

“She was arrested and immediately moved from Warji to Bauchi, to save her from the mob.

“We then went round to quell the disturbance and we thank God that we were able to arrest the situation and got the understanding of the people that what we did was the best in the circumstances. But before we were able to bring the situation under control, some houses and shops were torched and that’s the repercussion of this type of thing.

“On a general note, investigation has already been conducted; we’ve charged her (alleged blasphemer) to court and she is now in the Correctional Service facility, awaiting trial.”

When he was asked if those who burnt houses were also arrested, the police chief said:

“Well, our investigation did not indicate that some people were behind her; she did it (allegedly blasphemed) by herself and there are no co-conspirators around her and therefore, we charged only her to court.”

Over 40 Bakeries Shutdown In FCT Over Cost Of Production

No fewer than 40 bakeries have closed shop in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the cost of production and multiple taxation and hike in electricity tariffs, among others.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the bakeries visited were not opened for business due to operational costs and multiple taxations by some government agencies.

NAN reports that some of the bakeries that have closed shop are Abumme bakery Ltd. Lugbe, Airports road, Hamdala Bakery, Kuje, Harmony Bite Bakery, Karu, Doweey Delight Bakery Ltd, Kubwa.

He said that most members had lost their means of livelihood, while workers had been out of jobs due to the shout-down.

He called on the Federal Government to quickly intervene and check agencies of government frustrating bakery business.

An Abuja baker, Mr Nuhu Musa of Hamdala Bakery, Kuje, FCT appealed to the government to regulate the activities of agencies to reduce the different taxes they imposed on bakers.

Musa said many bakeries were struggling to survive due to the high cost of production.

“We want the government to regulate these agencies so that our production process will be easy.

“These taxations are negatively impacting our business to the extent that many of us have closed down.

14 Babies Die At UPTH’s Incubator, Doctors Suspend Surgery Due To Power Outages

No less than 14 babies have died at the incubator of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH due to power outage.

This is as some patients at the hospital said some surgery procedures have also been suspended due to irregular power supply.

A medical officer at the hospital who spoke to Standardobservers on the conditions of anonymity said among the dead babies were the twin babies of a woman who had been looking for the fruit of the womb for seven years.

She said the woman gave birth last month but due to the premature nature of the delivery, they were put in an incubator.

“I’m saddened. We lost those twins because of power failure at the hospital. More than 14 babies have died at the incubator in the past weeks due to power failure”, she said.
