Ondo Attack Survivor Marks Birthday, Recounts Experience
A survivor of the Ondo church attack, Stephanie Ajibo Olitex, has marked her birthday and recounted her experience during the attack as well as how she escaped.
In an update on Facebook, Ajibo revealed that she had hid in a cupboard with the baby she was carrying during the attack.
She said, “We were inside the church when they started shooting from the outside. People at the back started running towards the altar. Some jumped the fence, our priest escaped through the Sacristy with the help of our catechist. By the time I ran towards the Sacristy door, it was already locked by members who were able to reach there before me.
“I had to hide myself under the cupboard inside the choir room with the baby in my hand. He shot somebody right in front of me near the Sacristy door. He looked around, when he didn’t see anybody or sound, he went away. He was on mask, loaded with AK – 47.”
Explaining the distance between her and the gunman, she said, “Note that the distance between the heavily loaded gunman and me was like kitchen to dining. Our choir master who was hiding with us was shot on his chest before he ran into the room with us. I pray he survived the bullet”.
“They killed children, youths and elderly. I came out alive and escaped through the fence that demarcated our church from the palace of Olowo of Owo Kingdom and ran to the palace for the fear of the unknown. The baby with me is safe, I’m also safe. Happy birthday to me”. Olitex

Pakistan Police Refuse To Rescue Christian Girl From Muslim Kidnapper
The parents of a 15-year-old Roman Catholic girl in Pakistan’s Punjab province say their daughter was abducted two months ago by a Muslim man who has now forced her to marry him and convert to Islam, but police remain uncooperative despite the accused being identified.
Nadeem Masih, a sanitation worker at a textile factory, said her daughter, Saba Masih, was abducted on May 20 from the Madina Town area of Faisalabad city when she was going to work with her older sister, according to Morning Star News. Masih said their 45-year-old Muslim neighbor, identified as Muhammad Yasir, forcibly took Saba away in a rickshaw. “Yasir has already been married thrice but does not have children from either of his wives,” he added. The Christian girl’s family promptly called police but there has been no progress in the case.
“The police are not cooperating with us,” he was quoted as saying. “The investigating officer keeps telling us that Saba has converted to Islam and contracted marriage with Yasir, but he has not shown us any document as yet. We are pleading with police to at least recover the girl and arrange our meeting with her so that we can ascertain the facts ourselves, but he doesn’t listen to us.” The accused claims he had an affair with the girl.
“Yasir’s family has tarnished our reputation in the area with claims that Saba had an affair with their son, and that she’s the one who coaxed him into eloping from their homes. We have no one to turn to in this difficult time.” Masih said that his wife, a domestic worker, recently suffered a knee injury and that is why their two oldest daughters were working in her place.
“I was forced to take my children, four daughters and two sons, out of school due to poverty, and my wife and elder daughters are working as household helps to supplement our family income,” he said. “We are already suffering from poverty, and now our daughter has also gone missing.”
A local group called Human Rights Focus Pakistan helped Masih to file a complaint with the city District and Session Court, the U.S.-based persecution watchdog International Christian Concern said, adding that two hearings have been held and despite all the evidence available, the police have made no progress, failing to rescue the girl or arrest her captor.
“The kidnapper has been clearly identified, two eyewitnesses have made statements in court, and the owner of the factory has admitted the kidnapping by the co-worker: Why hasn’t the police taken action yet?” the president of Human Rights Focus Pakistan was quoted as saying. Saba is one of the at least three Christian girls who remain missing in Faisalabad city.
A 2014 report by The Movement for Solidarity and Peace Pakistan estimated that hundreds of women and girls from Pakistan’s Hindu and Christian communities are abducted, forcibly married and converted to Islam every year.
Religion is often injected into cases of sexual assault to place religious minority victims at a disadvantage, ICC previously reported, adding that perpetrators play upon religious biases to cover up and justify their crimes by introducing an element of religion.

We should all be reminded that yesterday made it exactly one year when an invading gang of killer herdsmen killed at least over 20 people in Igangan, Ibarapa North local government of Oyo State on a Saturday night, leaving several houses, the palace of the Asiganga burnt in the attack, whilst people were asleep. Exactly a year ago!
When calamities like this befall us without a single trace, the interpretation is that the intelligence unit of our country’s security architecture is probably faulty or completely missing.
I implore the six governors across the south west region and their brothers nationwide as well as the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, to live up to their oaths of securing Nigerians and ensuring safety for all citizens irrespective of their age, sex, religion or tribe.
Rather than discouraging us, this will rather strengthen us especially in our resolve to deploy manpower, resources and technology towards the protection of lives and properties. I’m consulting with Traditional rulers across the south-west alongside the governors across the southwest to come up with concrete plans to safe guard our people. We have deep obligations to them in the face of inadequate state security challenges that are threatening the fabric of our existence.
To my brother the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, and the entire Owo kingdom, to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, to the Ondo State Government, to the people of Owo, to the Priest and parishioners of St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa, Owo, to the families of all the victims, and the entire people of Ondo State, it is my prayer that Olodumare will comfort you all and give you peace in these trying time.”

2023: ‘North Or Nothing’- Northern APC Youths Tell President Buhari And Governors
A coalition of northern youth groups of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has kicked against the decision of President Buhari and 11 Northern governors to canvass for a Southern presidential candidate to clinch the APC’s presidential ticket.
According to reports, the youth groups, APC Progressives Youth Elements and North-East Youth Forum of APC, who protested in Bauchi on Sunday, June 5, said that the governors were selfish to have agreed that power should go to the South.
The protesting youths carried various placards with inscriptions such as“It’s North or Nothing”, “We are not in support of power shift to South”, “We will not accept the decision of eleven governors”, and “It’s in their selfish interest” .
Speaking for one of the groups, the President of APC Progressives Youth Elements, Alamin Bala Mai’auduga, said that it’s not time for the South to rule the country.
“We condemn the action of the 11 northern governors that supported southern candidature. We the Northern youths do not think it is time for any southerner to assume the mantle of leadership. What the governors did is for their selfish interest. We the Northern youths, who are about 70 percent of the total population of the country, are saying no. We are calling on our able National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, to weigh in on this and find lasting solution to this issue. We are not going to support any southern candidate. These 11 governors that made the decision are not the only people in the North. They are doing it for their selfish interests,” he said
On his part, the leader of the APC Youth Forum, Ibrahim Hashim Abdullahi, alleged that the governors opted for such option so that one of them would benefit from being appointed as vice president.
He lamented that with the hunger, insecurity, and poverty in the region, power needs to be retained for development.
“We will not endorse any candidate from the South, except from the North. We are far left behind” he warned
