APC Govs’ Begin Search For Consensus Candidate With Integrity As Ordered By Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the Progressive Governors to search for a right successor at a meeting in Aso Rock on Tuesday.

Buhari also informed the governors that he would be seeking reciprocity ahead of the presidential primary which comes up in the next six days.

He told the governors, “The party has successfully established internal policies that promote continuity and smooth succession plans even at the state and local government levels.

“For example, first-term governors who have served credibly well have been encouraged to stand for re-election. Similarly, second-term governors have been accorded the privilege of promoting successors that are capable of driving their visions as well as the ideals of the party.

“In keeping with the established internal policies of the party and as we approach the convention in a few days, therefore, I wish to solicit the reciprocity and support of the governors and other stakeholders in picking my successor, who would fly the flag of our party for election into the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

“As we approach the convention, I appeal to all of you to allow our interests to converge, our focus to remain on the changing dynamics of our environment, the expectations of our citizens and the global community.

“Our objective must be the victory of our party and our choice of a candidate must be someone who would give the Nigerian masses a sense of victory and confidence even before the elections.”

Court Orders Interim Seizure of NOK University, Other Properties linked to a Former Federal Director of Accounts

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, ordered the interim forfeiture of every asset of NOK University, based in Kaduna.

The University, built by a former Director of Finance and Accounts, DFA, in the Federal Ministry of Health, Anthony Hassan, was suspected to have been built from the proceeds of unlawful activities traced to its owner.

Hassan, who was a DFA in the ministry between 2016 and 2019 allegedly built the University through fraudulent means. Physical assets of the University forfeited include Senate building, ICT building, Faculty of Medicine building, Science Deanery building, two Academic buildings , a Faculty Hall and other buildings.

Other properties traced to Hassan which are also forfeited in the interim are Gwasmyen Water Factory, Gwasmyen Event Center and Gwasmyen International Hotel in Kaduna.

Justice Zainab Abubakar, gave the interim forfeiture order while ruling on a motion ex-parte brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Counsel to the EFCC, Ekele Iheanacho told the court that the EFCC sought the order “pursuant to Section 44(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No. 14, 2006 and under the inherent Jurisdiction of the Honorable Court”.

The Commission through her investigative Officer, Adaora Asabe Oragudosi investigated some verified intelligence bordering on criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering against some staff of the Federal Ministry of Health where the properties ordered forfeited were traced to the defendant.

In the ruling, the court directed that the interim forfeiture order be published in the National dailies, alerting anyone with interest in the properties to show cause, within 14 days, why it should not be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Justice Abubakar adjourned till October 5, 2022, for mention of the matter.

Biden spoke at the White House on Monday when asked whether he was planning to send long-range rockets to Ukraine.

United States President, Joe Biden has taken a decision whether to send rockets to Ukraine to help it fight Russia.

According to Biden, he doesn’t plan to ship any rockets to Ukraine that could reach Russian territory amid the ongoing war between both neighbouring countries.

Biden said this at the White House on Monday when asked whether he was planning to send long-range rockets to Ukraine.

“I won’t send anything that can fire into Russia,” Biden said.

Recall that the Biden administration is preparing to step up the kind of weaponry it is offering Ukraine by sending advanced, long-range rocket systems that are now the top request from Ukrainian officials.

The administration is leaning toward sending the systems as part of a larger package of military and security assistance to Ukraine, which could be announced as soon as next week.

It has wavered on whether to send the systems amid concerns raised within the National Security Council that Ukraine could use the new weapons to carry out offensive attacks inside Russia, according to officials.

On Friday, Russia warned that the United States would “cross a red line” if it supplies the systems to Ukraine.

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has expressed optimism about defeating former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, if he was given the All Progressives Congress’ ticket.

While addressing journalists, the presidential aspirant expressed satisfaction with the screening process.

He described the presidential candidate of the PDP, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, as a worthy candidate.

Asked about the exercise, he said, “The screening exercise went very well. Appropriate questions were asked about how we are going to fix the challenges facing our nation and appropriate answers were given to them.

“By God’s grace, we are pleased that we had something to offer this nation. In this critical moment in our history, nobody can say I have all the solutions. But we did say to them that we will assemble the best, brightest and fittest from within the country, north and south, and from outside of the country, those in the diaspora.

“The time has come for us to raise the foundation of many generations, to restore our path and ensure that our nation becomes great again.”

The Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Li Lei Lei, a Chinese national, to 24 months imprisonment for mutilating the Nigerian currency. He was convicted by Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The convict was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on tampering of the Nigerian note, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment) Act.

One of the count reads: “That you, Li Lei Lei, on or about the 17th day of May, 2022, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, tampered with One Thousand Naira (N1,000) Note, with serial number 947882 issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment) Act, Cap C4, Vol.1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010.”

“Don’t Vote Party Again In Nigeria; Vote For Someone Who Has A Vision – Pastor David Ibiyeomie Tells Nigerians Who To Vote

Popular Nigerian cleric, Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries has addressed Nigerians on those to vote ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Ibiyeomie urged Nigerians to vote for politicians with a vision for the country and not a politician.

He gave the remark while addressing his members at the church’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Ibiyeomie noted that anyone who collects money to vote in the forthcoming election sold their conscience, stressing that electorates should vote for a statesman.

According to Ibiyeomie: “If you take money to vote, then you have sold your conscience. When we are shouting, you people will say I don’t shout. I am shouting now. Don’t collect bribes to vote, vote for your conscience.

“Don’t vote party again in Nigeria; vote for someone who has a vision. Nigeria is in the woods; she needs someone who has a vision.

“No politician should be voted; vote for a statesman instead. A statesman thinks of the next generation, a politician thinks only of the 2023 general elections.”

Church Reacts To Allegations That Their Pastor Made An ”Infertile Couple Have Intercourse” On The Church Altar For A Miracle Child

A church has reacted after a photo showing two people laying on each other on the church’s altar while a pastor and several church members put out their hands towards them, went viral and sparked outrage online.

According to viral reports, the pair had been trying for a child for ten years without success, and when they sought help from the church, the minister encouraged them to have coitus on the altar in front of the congregation.

The photo sparked controversy, with many people expressing their thoughts about it.

However, reacting, the church located in Brazil said the photo was of two women, not a man and a woman.

They explained that the woman had arrived sick and had fainted during service. So after the preaching, the pastor called the sick woman and told another woman to lie on her as a prophetic act.

The church said getting a female minister to lie on top of the sick woman was based on the Bible passage that saw Prophet Elisha lie on the body of a dead boy while praying to God to bring his spirit back to life.

A teenager identified as Chinecherem Promise Albert, 16 has been reported dead.

He died in the early hours of Monday while performing incantation along with his 19-year-old brother, Chimezie Joshua Albert, a suspected internet fraudster popularly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’.

A source who spoke with ABN TV on the condition of anonymity said the incident happened at an undisclosed hotel located at Milverton Avenue Aba, Abia State.

Mr. Chimezie was said to have invited his younger brother, Promise to the hotel for incantation.

Promise however lost his life in the process. It was learnt that some suspects, including the chief security officer of the hotel Uzoma Okorie, one Charles Ezema, Ozioma Chukwuekele, Chukwuebuka Pius have been arrested for interrogation.

Security operatives have sealed off the hotel while mounting a heavy presence there to avoid a possible breakdown of law and order.

While the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue, investigations have commenced into the matter.

When contacted the PPRO Abia State command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed the incident.

45-Year-Old Accountant Commits Su!c!de In Lekki Over Inability To Get Married

A 45-year-old accountant, identified as Afolake Abiola has committed suicide by drinking an pesticide.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 27, 2022, at her 1 Abayomi Kukomi Close residence in Osapa London, Lekki, Lagos.

It was gathered that Afolake who is single, and childless had suffered depression for a while before she took her life.

According to a family member, name withheld, “she has been battling depression for a while on account of no husband and no child.”

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of Lagos state police command SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the incident happened on May 27, 2022.

He said: “When the policemen got to the scene, her family members were there and they officially requested that the corpse be released to them to enable them to bury her according to Islamic rites.

Based on compassionate grounds her corpse was released to her family for burial.

Biafra Heroes Day: IPOB Conducts Candle Night Prayers Marking 57th Years After Surviving Genocide

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB hosted a prayer session, conducts candle night in commemoration of all the fallen heroes of Biafra who paid the ultimate price for freedom right from 57 years ago.

The genocidal war that was carried out by the Nigerian government with the full support of the British government, Russia and other world countries against Biafrans who had only sought for self-determination has remained fresh in the hearts of Biafrans.

According to Umuchiukwu Writers, the special prayer which was organized by members of IPOB in Biafra land was lasted through the night of May 29th till the early hours of 30th May marking the exact day that General Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu declared the state of Biafra.

Biafrans from all works of life stormed the prayer venue and performed the normal rites for all the fallen heroes. Biafrans has died en mass and deserves to be granted their wish.
